Strappity Do-Da

A local woman with an original idea, a patented adjustment technology, an international client base, and a global mission to empower women through work wants to make a show of support meaningful on many levels.

Shelli Styles-Gaviria couldn’t keep her bra straps from falling into view while wearing tank tops during a trip to Colombia in 2005. Her sister-in-law, an artisan in beadwork, devised a pretty remedy – a beautiful, beaded bra strap.

Homeward-bound, Shelli was accosted in the airports by women wanting to buy her straps. A career sales woman, she knew she was onto something. She launched Strappity-Do-Da in 2006 from her home in Bath, which it has now outgrown.

Busty or barely there, one size fits all, thanks to Strappity-Do-Da’s patented adjustment technology. Pretty, slip-proof comfort and total support (up to DD!) add to their appeal. Perfect companion for tank tops, halters and scooped neck T’s.

A 20-woman cooperative in Colombia, where Strappity Do Da’s products are hand beaded by local artisans, pays three times the local wage and provides on-site daycare. As Strappity Do Da sales grow, so does the prosperity for the Colombian women and the families they support.

“Because everything is handmade, we can produce as few as 30 pairs of straps, though the costs are lower for larger volumes,” explains Shelli. “We even have red-white-blue straps for a patriotic display!”

Mission Stratement

Not only is Strappity-do-da the best and strongest bra strap out there, this product is also proud to partake in fair trade.  Shelly's mission for this US-based company was to bring aid to Cali, Colombia and the women artisans there make all of her Strappity-do-das.  These female workers are diligent and proud of their creations.  They receive above-avergage wages which help them feed and educate their children Way to go!
